Perfect Persuasion

A very energetic woman, Ms. Jill Foster came to speak to the class about the art of persuasion of Friday. Jill made many valid points of Friday and one of the most important things that she said was the way in which you can persuade an individual even if you are not interested in the topic at hand. She gave an example of how individuals can be persuasive through their tone of voice. The flip side of her example when she changed her tone of voice showed that people can persuade because through their intonation. Jill has perfected her craft so well that she has made a website called liveyourtalk.com that is specifically designed in order for women to successfully persuade.
Throughout her speech, Jill goes on to share a story that she had with her boss where her boss was able to convey four communication questions to her. Those questions were as follows:

  1. What point of view did you represent?
  2. What was/is the customer's point of view? Did it have any merit?
  3. What was at stake in the conversation? (ideal and least ideal scenario)
  4. What was your emotional resolve?
Reviewing these four questions will make you draw the conclusion that this is the proper procedure that one should take in order to be persuasive. I personally believe that being persuasive is a very important aspect of the communication field. If one can properly be persuasive, you can sway someone's opinion about a particular topic. This is why having Jill Foster come speak before our persuasive speeches is very important because her techniques are very useful in order to conduct a good presentation.
