Lisa Rowan spoke in class about the proper public oratory techniques; there couldn't have been a better lady for the job. From the get-go, Ms. Rowan grabbed my attention and seemed so at home while speaking with us. Many of the aspects of public speaking that she informed us of- confidence, solid note-taking, and management of audience attention spans- were clearly practiced techniques that she lives by. Her extremely used and customized notebook proved the point that never-ending note-taking helps maintain organization. One suggestion that really stuck with me involved searching for an undiscovered angle to approach any story. Her example of, what seemed to me, a boring story about an insignificant fire turned comedic when depicted from the eyes of a die-hard pizza delivery guy. Along with helpful tips on proper attire, I feel Lisa's valuable advice will help me improve my public communication skills exponentially. Thanks Lisa!
Short, sweet, and to the point. Well done Aaron. I'm glad to hear Lisa resonated with you. Many of the things she brought up are applicable across tasks that go beyond public speaking and it's good to read that you could take away those principles.

The pizza delivery guy story really stuck with me too. Goes to show you that there are good journalists in even the smallest niches.
