We actually didn't have a guest speaker for our class on Friday, October 29th, 2010. Instead, we were presented a video by Clay Shirley entitled "How Cognitive Surplus Will Change The World". The point of this was to focus on the different ways he communicate his educational speech to the audience at hand and to try and pick up on little things he did that we may want to incorporate into or avoid doing in our speeches and group presentations. The rest of the lecture was dedicated to specifying certain things we shouldn't do while speaking, like keeping our hands in our pockets. We also were told ways to enhance our communication methods. At the conclusion of class certain students were selected to give impromptu speeches and were critiqued on them.
Terrence, I think two class sessions got intertwined somehow on your post. Friday was dedicated to a discussion on collaboration in the age of social media -- I also did a demo using Google Groups and gave a few more examples of collaboration in the real world via technology.
